Maxx Crosby expresses frustration with Raiders losing

It is easy to feel sorry for Maxx Crosby.

Despite the star pass rusher’s best efforts year in and year out, the Las Vegas Raiders have never truly been able to make the most out of his contributions. In Crosby’s six NFL seasons, the Raiders have amassed a winning record once, when they went 10-7 in 2021. With the Raiders currently sitting at 2-10 and on a league-worst eight-game losing streak, Crosby will see a losing record for his team for the third consecutive year.

During Crosby’s appearance on SiruisXM’s NFL podcast Let’s Go!, he openly admitted that the constant losing has been difficult to take at points.

“Of course, I’m competitive as they come. I put all my time, and effort, and spirit and soul into this — into being the best version of myself,” Crosby said. “I care about winning more than anything on the planet. So, yeah, there were points in the season where I feel like I was losing my mind. I had to really reset.”

Crosby continues to be one of the NFL’s best defensive players, despite the Raiders’ lack of team success. When Crosby missed Week 4 due to an injury, it was the first game he has missed throughout his NFL career. Now healthy, Crosby is a weapon for the Raiders regardless of the situation, as he has played every defensive snap over the past six games.

Being willing to weather the storm and show up for his team every game is a testament to Crosby’s leadership ability and drive to succeed. Despite the struggles, Crosby knows that stepping up in a leadership role is important for the Raiders going forward.

“The best version of me is not just being a great player but a great leader and being the best version of myself, bringing positivity,” Crosby said.

“I feel like I’m here for a reason, and I could fall into that trap and be part of the crowd or I can be a leader. And that’s what I choose to be. It’s a choice. And of course, (the losing) sucks, but I’m going to be the best version of me every single day going forward.”

It appears as though Crosby is emerging as the de facto locker room leader of the Raiders, which is always a tremendous thing to have. Hopefully, with an offseason of roster upgrades, the team can reward their star player for his patience.
