Maxx Crosby has been the unchallenged face of the Las Vegas Raiders for quite some time. However, the Raiders star is not alone anymore. Pete Carroll and Geno Smith are the new challengers in town, but Brock Bowers has more history with the organization.
Bowers was hyped up coming out of college and didn’t disappoint as a rookie. The tight end found himself as one of the finalists for offensive rookie of the year in 2024, but his most recent accomplishment might even trump that.
Bowers was named as not just one of the top 100 players of 2025 but one of the top 25. Despite coming in at just 24, his star teammate wasn’t ready to settle.
Crosby took to X to tag his teammate, throwing him a compliment but also apparently a call to action.
Unicorn. More Is Required. @brockbowers17 https://t.co/bhqV0rqTBA
— Maxx Crosby (@CrosbyMaxx) August 21, 2025
“Unicorn. More is required,” Crosby posted, adding some “fire” emojis.
Of course, some may argue that he was saying the team needs more players like Bowers, but Crosby would have needed to post “More are required.” Instead, he wrote “More is required,” which signals that he was pointing at Bowers, challenging him to do more.
Maxx Crosby has plenty of reason to do this, as the better Bowers produces, the more first downs and touchdowns he can get, the less pressure is on himself to get quarterbacks on the ground. Plus, it pushes quarterbacks to pass more, which opens the door for Crosby to get more sack opportunities.
The pass rusher might also need to point the finger at himself, as Crosby is yet to be named in this year’s NFL Top 100 list. Of course, there is still a chance with 20 spots left that he could finish near the top of the league, but with every passing round not featuring his name, it becomes a bit more likely.
Maxx Crosby turned in 7.5 sacks in 2025. If he is indeed left out, the drop from 14.5 sacks a season ago might be what the other players saw (Players vote on who they believe is the best to create the NFL’s Top 100 list).

That said, the overall scope of his body of work, including double-digit sacks in two of the last three years, is a statistic that speaks for itself.
Will Crosby climb above Bowers at the 11th hour, or could he find himself chasing the young tight end this season?
