Once again, it appears as though Maxx Crosby will continue to be locked out of the playoffs with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Despite being the face of the franchise since being drafted in 2019, Crosby’s individual accolades have done little to change the Raiders’ fortunes. That did not stop Crosby from signing a three-year, $106.5 contract extension in March, indicating his belief that the Raiders could turn things around under head coach Pete Carroll. Starting at 1-4, however, and it appears that Crosby is instead trapped into more of the same.
Even with his new extension, that has not stopped teams from wondering if they can somehow pry Crosby away from the Raiders.
According to Chase Senior of Chat Sports, the San Francisco 49ers are being linked to Crosby, citing previous interest, the season-ending injury to edge rusher Nick Bosa and the potential fit in defensive coordinator Robert Saleh’s scheme.
Should the 49ers go all-in and trade for Maxx Crosby?
They’ve reportedly shown interest in him before and he could EAT under Robert Saleh & Kris Kocurek and help to replace Nick Bosa.

With Crosby rumors kicking off, virtually every team with playoff aspirations is going to at least kick the tires on a potential deal. Teams such as the Buffalo Bills, Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks all tried to trade for Crosby prior to his extensions, and they would almost certainly do so again.
However, it is unlikely that Crosby will leave the Raiders for the foreseeable future, let alone in a month’s time.
Think back to the Micah Parsons trade in August, where the Green Bay Packers traded defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks to the Dallas Cowboys. That hefty price tag was for a player with a clear trade request and no extension on the horizon, both of which are not problems for Crosby and the Raiders. On top of any financial hurdles, any team would have to pay more to even come close to getting Crosby out of Las Vegas, with two-first round picks and a couple of young starters being the bare minimum.
The package that the Raiders would ask for Crosby will come across as unrealistic to a lot of teams, but that has to be the going rate for one of the best pass-rushers of this generation.
