After weeks of fielding offers from interested teams, the Las Vegas Raiders made the difficult decision to trade Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks, including the No. 14 overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft.

Crosby spent seven seasons with the Raiders where he established himself as the unquestioned leader of the defense and one of the best edge rushers in football. The 28-year-old totaled 439 tackles, 133 tackles for loss, 164 QB hits, 69.5 sacks, 29 passes defensed and 11 forced fumbles during his time with the franchise.

Crosby wanted to spend his entire career with the Raiders but it became obvious that a trade was the best course for both sides.

Las Vegas gets two more premium drafts to help with their rebuild, and Crosby now gets to play for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. Crosby discussed the trade on his podcast, “The Rush,” and lamented not being able to deliver a championship to the Raiders while also expressing excitement for his new chapter with the Ravens:

Crosby wanted nothing more than to win with the Raiders, but that was a challenge for most of his tenure in Las Vegas. The five-time Pro Bowler was part of only one winning season with the team in 2021, which ended with a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card Round.

He seemingly became more frustrated with the direction of the Raiders as time went on, as he didn’t appreciate how the team shut him down for the final two games of the 2025 season. Crosby also reportedly had issues with wellness coordinator Alex Guerrero, who is close to part-owner Tom Brady.

Interestingly enough, Crosby said during his podcast appearance that he would prefer to end his career with the Raiders, so there is always a chance that he will find his way back to the Silver and Black someday.

Raiders wanted big return for Maxx Crosby

Prior to trading Crosby to the Ravens, reports indicated that the Raiders were seeking a Micah Parsons-like haul from interested teams.

They ended up getting two first-round draft picks from the Ravens — just like the Dallas Cowboys did when they traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers — but not a veteran player such as three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark.

Even so, the Raiders have to be encouraged with their return for Crosby, as painful as it was to part ways with a player who meant so much to the franchise.
