The Las Vegas Raiders had easily their worst performance of the 2025 season on Sunday as they were thoroughly dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs in a 31-0 loss. Making things even worse for the Raiders was star defensive end Maxx Crosby leaving the game early with a knee injury.
Injuries have been an issue for the Raiders all season long, as star tight end Brock Bowers hasn’t been healthy since Week 1 due to his own knee injury, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers also missed the game against the Chiefs with knee and toe injuries. Losing Crosby would be a death blow for this team in a season that is already on the verge of collapse.
But thankfully, Crosby’s knee injury doesn’t sound as if it is a serious one. According to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network, the belief is that Crosby will be just fine and the Raiders were just being cautious with him on Sunday:
“They have a bye this coming week, so no immediate urgency for Maxx Crosby. My understanding is this is not a major knee injury. He really is OK. They kind of just wanted to get him off the field and protect him from himself, given the score of the game.”
This is very good news for Crosby and the Raiders, as if he were to miss any significant time, the defense would suffer greatly. The fact that the Raiders have a bye week coming gives him extra time to recover, so everything should be just fine.
Despite the Raiders’ struggles, Crosby has been his normal disruptive self, continuing to show that he is one of the best defensive players on the planet. He ranks second in the NFL in tackles for loss with 10 while also totaling 28 tackles, four sacks, nine QB hits, five passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble.
This Raiders season has not gone the way anyone wants, but this bye week should allow this team to get healthy and regroup and hopefully be able to turn the year around once they get back on the field in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty had strung together a couple of good outings before Sunday’s rough contest against the Chiefs. The offense totaled just 95 yards against the vaunted Chiefs defense, with Jeanty rushing for only 21 yards, further lending credence to his belief that the Raiders offense is much better when they are able to establish the run.
