The deal also includes $91,5 million in guaranteed money, which was a major sticking point Crosby brought up with his current deal during the offseason.
UPDATE: In a press conference held on Wednesday, Crosby and the Raiders announced the extension.
“I am extremely excited and motivated,” Crosby said. “I have been here for seven years and it has been a blessing … A lot of people in this building have helped me. I am about to be five years sober in a week and without that, I wouldn’t be here.”
While Crosby and general manager John Spytek were pleased about getting this deal don e, the hunger to win still remains for the star pass rusher.
“I truly just want to win. I don’t care about all the other stuff that comes with it,” Crosby said about being the face of the Raiders franchise. “You look at all the greats that were here, that’s what I look up to. One thing to be the face of the franchise but I want to be a winner. When you’re not winning what are you the face of?”
Hopefully, this commitment to Crosby by the Raiders is a sign that they are looking to finally turn the corner.
