McDaniel Gives Injury UPDATE on Achane, Jackson, Sieler, Bonner, & Waller

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel held a media session on Monday and gave injury updates on all of the key Dolphins players who are nursing something at this time.

Cornerback Ethan Bonner will be out “weeks” with a hamstring injury; no other time frame was provided.

McDaniel said he is confident that starting right tackle Austin Jackson will be ready to play Week 1 vs the Indianapolis Colts. Jackson has been out of practice for a bit since he was stepped on during a play in practice.

Zach Sieler, who is dealing with a minor injury, will return to practice this week.

Running back De’Von Achane has a calf injury, and he will not practice at all this upcoming week. He said they are being cautious to have him for week 1 of the regular season, and it’s not an ongoing problem.

McDaniel said that tight End Darren Waller will return to practice “soon,” but gave no further time frame on what “soon” is. McDaniel said,

“I’m expecting to see him sooner than later,” …. “In the back of my mind, it would be this week, but I’m not going to just put them out there this week just because I said it before. So I’m hopeful, but it’s very soon.”

Waller’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said on WSVN-7 Sunday evening with Josh Moser that,

“With all due respect the other tight ends on the (Dolphins) roster, Darren Waller will be ready to rock.”

Drew adds that there is NO concern for him, despite still being on the PUP list for Week 1.

McDaniel said that nobody should read into the visit with Matthew Judon, meaning that Chop Robinson, Jaelan Phillips, or Bradley Chubb is injured. Per McDaniel,

“visiting for the sake of seeing if there’s a situation that both parties would be able to come into an agreement of, ‘Hey, this is a situation that fits.’ “

Matt Judon is 33 years old and a former 5th-round pick of the Ravens in 2016. He has played for the Ravens, Patriots, and Falcons.

Last season in Atlanta, he played in 17 games, started 15, had one interception, and 5.5 sacks.

For his career, he has 72 sacks in 131 games played, of those 131, he started 97.

Judon is visiting with the Dolphins today and there are multiple reports that both sides are motivated to get a deal done.
