Mel Kiper Jr. Ranks Top 5 Quarterbacks For 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft quarterback class isn't the best even though one may go first overall in April.

Momentum has been building for Cam Ward to go first overall to the Tennessee Titans since they are without a true franchise quarterback. They'd look to develop Ward after he finished his collegiate career with Miami.

Even though Ward may go first overall, he's not Mel Kiper Jr.'s top quarterback in the class. He has Shedeur Sanders in the top spot, followed by Ward, Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, and Will Howard.

Sanders is still projected to go in the first round and most mocks have him going in the top five. He was the quarterback at Colorado for the last two years and followed his dad, Deion Sanders, there when he took the job.

Sanders finished the 2024 season with 4,134 yards through the air, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting after not being named a finalist.

Ward was a finalist for the award and finished fourth in the voting after he finished this past season with 4,313 yards through the air, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Dart has been getting a lot more first-round buzz in the last few weeks. Some pundits have him going in the top 25 and see him as a quarterback who could grow into an NFL starter.

He finished the season with 4,279 yards through the air, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Shough and Howard are projected to be day two or three picks in the draft.

Fans will see which quarterback gets drafted first when the 2025 NFL Draft takes place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will have coverage of the event.
