Mia Scott didn’t need many words to sum up her legendary performance in the Women’s College World Series. After leading the Texas Longhorns to their first-ever national championship while playing on a torn ACL, the star third baseman took to social media with a simple, cold-blooded message:
“Only needed 1.”
Scott’s toughness was on full display throughout the tournament, but it wasn’t until ESPN’s Holly Rowe revealed her injury during the championship series that fans realized just how much she was battling through. Despite the setback, Scott delivered one of the most clutch performances in WCWS history.
She finished the series 5-for-8 at the plate, scoring two home runs, five RBIs, and four runs. Her biggest moment came in Game 3 against Texas Tech, when she crushed a grand slam in the fourth inning to put the Longhorns up 10-0, effectively sealing the title.
Scott also made an impact defensively, flashing her glove at third base with diving stops and quick reactions that helped Texas shut down opposing offenses. She recorded seven assists in the 3-0 win over Florida and added three putouts in the 4-2 victory over Oklahoma earlier in the tournament.
Her performance even caught the attention of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who posted on X: “3rd baseman for Texas is cold..”
Scott has never been one for the spotlight; she hasn’t spoken to the media once in her four years at Texas, but her game speaks for itself. And after playing through a torn ACL to bring home a championship, her latest message says it all.
