Miami Dolphins Dealt Concerning Tyreek Hill News on Friday

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is entering the 10th year of a successful NFL career, which has seen him earn eight Pro Bowl selections and be given First-Team All-Pro honors five times.

In the 2025 season, he's looking to add to that, but on Friday, he hit a small road bump, with Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reporting that Hill was not participating in the team's joint practice with the Chicago Bears

Mike McDaniel Addresses Hill's Injury

The severity of Hill's injury is unknown, but while speaking to reporters, head coach Mike McDaniel did confirm that Hill's absence was due to an oblique injury.

"He's trying to practice and he's working through an oblique that got worse because he was taking every rep that was on the books," McDaniel said via David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

With the Dolphins set to have their preseason opener against the Bears on Sunday, this puts Hill's availability to play and earn those extra reps in question, though no decision has been made.

Hill Looking to Bounce Back in 2025

The 2024 season was a down year for Hill. He missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career and broke a four-year streak of reaching at least 1,000 receiving yards. In total, he racked up 81 receptions, 959 yards and six touchdowns.

It's clear the wide receiver wants things to turn around, telling ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques, "I told my dad — I want to see what it looks like when I just focus on football, on myself and family ... I feel like I haven't been giving the best version of Tyreek my whole entire career."

However, at 31 years old, Hill may be facing an uphill battle, as this is typically the age at which someone in his position starts seeing a drop in numbers. Much of Hill's success also comes with his impressive speed, which is something that deteriorates over time.
