The Miami Dolphins are looking to take a step forward in the 2024 NFL season. This comes after losing the AFC East title in Week 18 last season then losing their first playoff game.
Each year, the Dolphins face more and more pressure to get a playoff win under their belt. Fans, players, and staff alike are all focused on that goal and more. Well, television host Kay Adams took notice of this and praised the Dolphins’ fanbase as a result.
This morning, Kay Adams discussed Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins’ fanbase. She hosts the “Up & Adams” show on FanDuel TV. With the Dolphins just wrapping up their minicamp, Adams could not help but admire how invested the fans are in this upcoming season:
“This fanbase – I will always love – because they are fiercely loyal. They are so for Tua, they are so for Waddle, they are so for [McDaniel]… they’re a true ride or die fanbase.”
-Kay Adams
Part of the motivation for the quote above was something McDaniel admittedly recently. Last week, McDaniel revealed in a press conference that he scheduled most staff meetings during the 24th minute of the hour.
Why is this significant? It is the number of years it has been since the Dolphins’ last playoff win. That came during the 2000 season against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Miami immediately got shut out in the next round 27-0 against the Oakland Raiders.
The Dolphins have also made the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. They lost in the wild card round both times. However, that is becoming less acceptable with each recurring playoff appearance.
While Adams did claim Dolphins fans are completely invested in the team, it does not mean every fan is sold on the quarterback. This comes at a time when Tagovailoa is getting questioned on whether he will receive similar money as Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff. Here is what some fans had to say about this:
“She really couldn’t have nailed our fan base any less. We are so split on Tua…”
“Not true at all, 50% of the fan base hates Tua”
“I think we’re talking about 2 different fan bases. Half of them wanted Tua out lol”
