Miami Dolphins Finally Have a Clear Direction

The first offseason for the new regime is in the books for the Miami Dolphins, and I believe that it has firmly established the type of organization it will be going forward. They started off the offseason by moving on from contracts that were weighing them down.

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the chart breaking down the highest-paid Dolphins for 2026. 

Of the top eight highest-paid players, most are no longer on the roster: Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Jalen Ramsey, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Bradley Chubb, and Terron Armstead are notable names no longer with Miami, with only Zach Sieler remaining on the squad. 

While this is an unfortunate situation, it is necessary. With these players not playing where the team hoped and off-field drama causing issues, Miami looked to set a new tone. I believe they did just that; it doesn’t matter how much money you’re making, if you don’t fit into what the Dolphins are building, you will be gone. 

That isn’t to say that players aren’t being rewarded for their play. De’Von Achane, Jordyn Brooks, and Aaron Brewer all received new contracts this offseason. This shows players that if you are committed to the path and perform well, you will be richly rewarded. That should motivate the younger players on the roster going forward, and Miami has the youngest roster in the league. 

This week, Miami made some surprising moves with players I think we all expected to be here for the season. Let’s start off with Quinn Ewers; he was thought to be the backup heading into the season, much in the same way as he was last season. However, on Sunday, the team traded him to Jacksonville for a sixth-round pick.
