Miami Dolphins Receive Four Compensatory Picks From NFL

The start of the new league year marks a fresh beginning for all 32 teams and many players.

For the Miami Dolphins, it’s a time to offer veterans opportunities to thrive. The team emphasizes financial responsibility while ensuring players are satisfied with their contracts. Of the 32 teams, only 13 received compensatory picks, with 11 getting multiple selections.

On Tuesday, March 11, the Dolphins were awarded four 2025 NFL compensatory draft picks  based on player and front-office changes from the previous offseason. Miami is one of three teams, alongside the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys, to receive four compensatory picks.

Here's how the NFL defines how a team will receive a compensatory draft pick:

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

The Dolphins earned the No. 34 pick in the third round (No. 98 overall), the No. 33 pick in the fourth round (No. 135 overall), the No. 37 pick in the seventh round (No. 253 overall) and the No. 40 pick in the seventh round (No. 256 overall).

Miami now have another top-100 selection, giving them their only third-round pick after trading with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 NFL Draft to move up in the fourth round for linebacker Jaylen Wright.

In total, the Dolphins have the No. 13 and No. 48 picks, one selection in the third round, two in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two in the seventh. The team may use these picks to move up in the draft.
