Miami Dolphins Sign All-UFL Offensive Tackle
The Miami Dolphins have signed All-UFL tackle Gottlieb Ayedze. He played one season for the Houston Gamblers of the United Football League. He is 26 years old.
Ayedze played one year at the University of Maryland, where he performed well enough to earn himself some private interviews with NFL teams ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. After going undrafted, he signed a standard undrafted free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was later released and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he was released once again prior to the start of the regular season. Ayedze was out of football in 2025, but was allocated to the DC Defenders of the UFL in early January. He was subsequently traded to the Houston Gamblers in March.
Even though he did not play football for 2 full seasons, Ayedze was impactful early on with the Gamblers and dominated at a position that is very difficult to adjust to at the pro level. His play earned him All-UFL honors at the tackle position. Ayedze is now joining the Dolphins with the hopes of competing in a thin offensive tackle room.
The Dolphins released tackles Carter Warren and Kion Smith, leaving Jamaree Salyer and Charlie Heck as the only potential backup swing tackles. Ayedze has now proven to be a solid professional football player and has experience as a starter. Heck and Salyer are tough competition, but if Salyer wins the starting guard job, Ayedze has a huge opening to be on the 53-man roster.
He is joining the team at an opportune time, right before summer training and prior to any preseason games.
