Miami Dolphins taking a closer look at a possible big solution - literally and figuratively - on the defensive line

A very large man at 6'6", 330 pounds, Collins has the athleticism and pass rushing ability to be make an impact on the inside in addition to stopping the run.  He took a big step forward at Texas in his final season last year, setting season highs in total tackles (55), tackles for loss (6), and passes defended (7).  He also totaled 41 combined pressures over his last two seasons. 

Collins clearly fits a dire need for the Dolphins, particularly after the Dolphins whiffed on re-signing Calais Campbell, who started all 17 games and was the team's highest graded defender by Pro Football Focus in 2024. With Benito Jones being the only other starter-worthy player on the defensive line to pair with Zach Sieler, Miami has little choice but to pull the trigger on a defensive tackle early in the draft.  

Collins should theoretically be in range when the Dolphins are on the clock in the second round with the 48th overall pick.  If Collins is still on the board when Miami is up, it seems like a good fit, and one that Miami would apparently consider seriously.
