Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Takes Hilarious Jab At NFL Legend

Obviously, Hill is just joking. As a matter of fact, back in January, he actually campaigned for Welker to get a better coaching job somewhere.

Welker played wide receiver in the NFL from 2004 through 2015, spending time with five different teams. That included the Dolphins, who Welker played with from 2004 through 2006.

The Texas Tech product went undrafted and actually began his career with the San Diego Chargers in 2004, but was waived after one game and proceeded to sign with Miami.

Welker only played special teams for the Dolphins that season and was impressive, racking up 1,313 kick return yards as well as a touchdown.

The following year, he began getting playing time as a receiver, logging 29 catches for 434 yards. His role grew in 2006, as he caught 67 passes for 687 yards and a score.

That ensuing offseason, Welker signed with the New England Patriots, where he proceeded to break out in a major way.

He went on to spend the next six seasons with the Patriots, making five straight trips to the Pro Bowl between 2008 and 2012 and also earning a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections. He led the league in receptions three times during that run, topping out at 123 in 2009.

Welker’s best season in total, however, came in 2011, when he snared 122 balls for 1,569 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.

The Oklahoma City native then linked up with the Denver Broncos for two years before ending his career with the St. Louis Rams in 2015.

Welker’s coaching career began with the Houston Texans in 2017, where he served as an offensive assistant for two years before moving on to become the San Francisco 49ers’ wide receivers coach in 2019.

The 43-year-old spent three seasons with the 49ers. He joined the Dolphins’ staff in 2022, which just so happened to represent Hill’s first year in South Beach.

Hill, who began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, has made the Pro Bowl in all eight of his NFL campaigns and has also notched First-Team All-Pro honors five times.

This past year, the superstar pass-catcher led the league in receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13) while hauling in 119 receptions.

Tyreek Hill has always been a great receiver, but having a legend like Wes Welker coaching him has almost surely helped him elevate his game.
