Week ten brought the high-flying Buffalo Bills into Miami for what seems to be as close to an automatic win as there is in the NFL. The beleaguered Dolphins had second thoughts on being another notch in the Bills’ belt. These Dolphins played one of their more inspired games of the season, thoroughly dominating the Super Bowl contender (yet to win one, though). The team showed the league that they have yet to quit on head coach McDaniel.
The numbers behind the dismantling of the Buffalo Bills:
2 – Since 2020, the Bills have dominated this series, winning one while losing only two games to the Miami Dolphins.
90 – Miami’s defense jumped to a 16-point lead at half while holding the high-powered Bills’ offense to only 90 yards, which also included
0 – Zero third downs, as well as holding Buffalo to
4 – Four possessions of 3 and out of 7 possessions.
66.2 – The Dolphins’ defense held Buffalo’s rushing attack to well under their 153.2 yards per game average, holding them 66.2 yards below, which contributed to Buffalo being forced to pass and play from behind the entire game.
225 – Miami’s persistence in running the ball was on full display with running back De’Von Achane unleashing 225 total yards that included 174 yards rushing while hauling in 6 passes for 51 yards.
32 – 6 Dolphin players contributed to 32 rushing attempts, which was five less than their season high (37), further confirming the possible switching of the guard and moving from a pass-happy offense to a more diverse, rushing-heavy attack working to control the clock and wear down defenses as the game moves to the latter halves.
1 – After coming into this game with an -8 turnover ratio, the defense was able to collect three total turnovers, allowing Miami to end the game on the positive side of the turnover battle.
82 – Since losing Tyreek Hill to injury in week 4 and becoming the team’s #1 wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle has at least five catches and 82 yards in five of the six games, further elevating the need to feed him the ball more often.
127 – De’von Achane’s goal of at least 1,000 yards rushing and 500 receiving yards is well within reach, currently sitting at 325 receiving yards and another solid game of 127 yards away from his career high.
1 – Whether it was AI or not, the picture circulating on social media of head coach Mike McDaniel driving past the Elbo Room (a local Bill’s fan bar) has done nothing but cement himself in Miami lore, good or bad!
