Micah Parsons gives Jerry Jones a taste of his own medicine with incendiary message amid Cowboys negotiations

Jerry Jones has met a worthy adversary in Micah Parsons as the two negotiate a long-term contract extension to keep the star defender in the Dallas Cowboys for years to come.

Specifically, Parsons has matched Jones' habits in the PR department.

The latest example came in the form of an incendiary message sent through an interview with famous host Kay Adams and NBA star Kevin Durant, where he said he "only rocks with Dan Quinn" when asked if he'd play in Washington at some point in his career. Moments earlier, Durant said he thought Parsons would be a Commander in two years.

Naturally, the clip from Fanatics Fest is going viral as it depicts Parsons seemingly being open to the idea of joining a division rival while praising his former defensive coordinator and now Commanders HC.

But this is the media-savvy Parsons playing the game Jones is also playing. With little progress made on a new deal, the Cowboys defensive end is turning up the heat after months of being a great teammate.

Last year, the Cowboys front office notably criticized Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb throughout their lengthy negotiations. Parsons made sure to stay one step ahead of the narrative.

At the end of the 2024 regular season, he told the media he wanted to reach a deal quickly to help the team's salary cap space. He was in and out of OTAs and later attended mandatory minicamp and even took part of a few drills.

He's made it clear he wants the Cowboys to talk to his agent and stated publicly there would be no backdoors to strike a deal. He's said he'll be around for training camp in Oxnard, California. As to whether or not he'll be on the field, he said it's up to the owner.

Simply put, Parsons is making sure the Jones family doesn't turn fans on him because he's doing his part. And considering the Cowboys are known to unusually prolong negotiations, it's difficult not to take his side.
