Micah Parsons Makes 'Bizarre' Practice Decision After Trade Request

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has been dominating the headlines at training camp because of his contract situation.

Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the Cowboys. Last Friday, he shocked the NFL world by publicly requesting a trade. He released a lengthy statement on social media about how he didn't really appreciate the way the front office handled their negotiations.

"I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America's team once again," Parsons wrote. "The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA.

"Unfortunately I no longer want to be here. I no longer want to be held to closed-door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me."

Despite expressing his frustration with the Cowboys, the All-Pro pass rusher continues to attend training camp. He's just not participating in any drills yet.

Earlier this Monday, Parsons turned heads when he showed up to practice in his Cowboys jersey. Most people believe this is his way of showing the front office that he wants to remain in Dallas.

NFL fans believe this is a foolish move by Parsons. They're convinced it'll give the front office some much-needed leverage.

"Bro gonna get paid. It’s all part of the show," one person said after seeing Parsons in uniform.

"Just some hype for the media, it’s a done deal he will be with us this season," a second person wrote.

"It’s all forced theater," another fan declared.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already said that he's not worried about Parsons' trade request.

"I think the world of Micah. That's just the part of negotiation. I don't really place that with any seriousness," Jones said. "I wouldn't be standing here with you if I didn't think we potentially had a great future with Micah. We're in good shape. This is negotiation. But make no mistake about it, life has to go on if something happens to me or anybody else. Life does go on. ... I would say to our fans, don't lose any sleep over this."

After seeing Parsons in his No. 11 jersey this Monday, it's hard to envision him leaving "America's Team" anytime soon.
