Micah Parsons’ 2025 season with the Green Bay Packers ended prematurely when he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos, a non-contact play that brought his breakout first year in Green Bay to a close. An MRI confirmed the diagnosis, and Parsons was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Parsons was acquired by the Packers in August 2025 in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys, who received two first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark in return. He signed a four-year, $188 million contract, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.
Following the injury, Parsons underwent ACL repair surgery, which was successful and marked the beginning of his recovery process. He posted on social media after the procedure that the operation “went amazing” as he embarked on rehabilitation focused on returning to play, with ACL recovery timelines commonly ranging around nine months.
Parsons has since spent time back in Dallas, where his family resides, including being with his partner as they await the birth of his third child; he already has a seven-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter, and the new baby is expected imminently.
During his time away from the Packers this offseason, Parsons has stayed active on social media, sharing his takes on football games and providing updates about his family to his fans.
On Wednesday, he posted to his X followers about a personal priority amid rehab: “I want a Bernese mountain dog for my family ! Any reviews?”
He followed up shortly afterward with his decision on the breed: “Okay I’ve decided on the bernedoodle! If anyone knows anyone please contact me!”

Parsons continues to ramp up his recovery from the torn ACL with an eye on being ready for training camp and the 2026 season, though no specific return date has been publicly confirmed beyond typical recovery expectations.
The five-time Pro Bowl selection finished the 2025 season with 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defended in 14 games, continuing his run of at least 12 sacks in each of his first five NFL seasons. The Packers will hope Parsons can return to his best next season as they look to regroup following a wild card round exit to the Chicago Bears.
