When the Green Bay Packers traded a haul of draft picks for All-Pro Micah Parsons, he made a promise to some of his new teammates.
The Green Bay Packers are 2-0, and many are getting ready to crown them the latest contenders for the NFC conference title. No team is playing at a higher level than the Packers right now, and Micah Parsons‘ presence on defense has a lot to do with their early-season success.
The Packers traded two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark for edge rusher Micah Parsons, and the NFL world couldn’t believe it had happened.
The discourse between Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had been going on all summer, but nobody ever expected Dallas to actually trade him.
Parsons recorded 54 sacks in his first four seasons in the NFL, along with 64 tackles for loss, nine forced fumbles, and 259 total tackles.
He was named a first-team All-Pro the year he was drafted, and has earned All-Pro honors in three of his four seasons in the league so far.

Now in Green Bay, Parsons has vowed to take his game to the next level. When he arrived, he made a promise to the Packers’ secondary, saying:
“I’m gonna make them [the DBs] a lot of money. That ball’s gonna come out a whole lot quicker,”
So far this season, his promise is already showing on the field.
Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon is currently graded as the highest-performing cornerback in the NFL, according to PFF. Carrington Valentine is ranked seventh on that list, and safety Evan Williams is ranked sixth among the NFL’s safeties.

Nixon has five pass breakups in just two games, which is also the highest number of any corner in the game.
The seventh-year corner played at such an incredible level in the Packers’ win over the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football, contributing to the elite defensive performance across the board.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has the entire unit playing together, and the relentless pass rush up front is allowing the secondary to shine, just as Micah Parsons had predicted.
Carrington Valentine was pinned as one of the players who might have a breakout year this season, and he too is delivering so far in 2025.

Safety Xavier McKinney isn’t letting himself buy into the hype yet, but the Green Bay Packers are certainly looking like one of the best teams in the league right now, with very real Super Bowl ambitions.
Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine are both under contract through the 2026 season.
Nixon signed a three-year, $18 million contract in 2024, which is now looking like exceptional value for the Packers. If he continues to play at a high level, there’s a good chance the corner will be looking for an extension at the end of the season with the final year of his deal looming.
Carrington Valentine is still playing on his rookie contract after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 draft. He signed a four-year deal totaling $3.9 million, and his current performances warrant a significant pay rise when the time comes.
