Micah Parsons was very excited to see Dak Prescott get his monster contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys before the start of the season. On The Edge podcast, Parsons shared his reaction to Prescott’s $240 million contract extension.
“My mouth dropped. I even told a reporter, I said ‘Goddam,’ Parsons said. “I can never be broke again if Dak Prescott owes me money. Dak is that guy, no BS. He deserves everything that he gets. He never cheated the game, he comes in every day with positive attitude, great work ethic and he’s always first one in last one out. Consistently being the best person/player you could possibly be. He never cheats the game and that’s the most important part.
“So when a guy like that gets his money, you say he earned every single dollar. Couldn’t be more happier for him. Congratulations Dak Prescott, you’re one of ones, no one deserves it like you do.”
Prescott’s contract is for four years and came before the Cowboys defeated the Cleveland Browns 33-17 in the season opener on Sunday. All offseason, there was speculation about Prescott’s future since he was entering the final year of his previous contract.
“I hope after today we’re done talking about it and my pockets,” Prescott said with a laugh after the team’s victory over the Browns, per the Cowboys’ official website. “And could just move forward and focus on this team and the success that we plan to have and what we’re working toward.”
Now that the Cowboys have re-signed Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, they can now focus on getting a new contract for Parsons. On the podcast, the star pass rusher addressed his status with the team and said he knows everything will work out.
“I know I’m going to be a Cowboy,” Parsons said. “There’s nothing like Cowboy Nation. I think the love is very mutual. As for me, I’m just focused on winning games. I want to win those big games, I want to win those playoff games, get to the Super Bowl.
“For me, the contract is not really what I’m worried about. It’s just me being the best player for my guys, my teammates. If a contract, something like that happens furthermore up, then that happens. But for right now, we’re gonna focus on just trying to be legendary, be great and bring championships back to Dallas.”
