Micah Parsons Sends Harsh Message About How Cowboys Are Treating Star Player

This offseason, a lot of drama unfolded between star pass rusher Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career.

Parsons was seeking a long-term contract, but the Cowboys were unwilling to meet the terms he and his agent requested. That ultimately led to a trade to the Green Bay Packers, who promptly paid him after the deal was finalized.

While Parsons still has affection for many people in Dallas, it seems that feeling wasn’t reciprocated by the front office. He recently spoke out harshly about how they are handling star cornerback Trevon Diggs, who is coming off a major knee injury and was recently placed on IR following a home accident that resulted in a concussion.

“Honestly, I feel like they [explicit] my dog over, you know what I mean?” Parsons told Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports. “He’s coming off a catastrophic knee injury and I just didn’t think they did right by him. He didn’t participate all camp and he’s going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don’t think you do that to a player like that.

“And the type of knee injury he had, they forced him out there. He has no reps really. He’s telling me he was in warmup phase during Week 1. Even with the ramp-up, I just feel like you just don’t do that.”

Trevon Diggs began the season on the field but struggled to find a rhythm, which led Cowboys coaches to bench him for a game before eventually returning him to play—a decision that sparked some controversy.

Despite that, Diggs handled the situation professionally, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes he still has a bright future with the organization once he’s healthy enough to return to a defense that has been one of the worst in the NFL this season.

“I don’t see that today at all,” Jones said when asked if he thinks Diggs has played his final game with the Cowboys ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Jones also addressed what’s truly holding Diggs back and the main reason he went on IR, revealing that he’s dealing with an injury to his other, non-reconstructive knee.

“Diggs’ biggest problem is he’s injured, and it’s not the same knee he’s been rehabbing,” Jones said. “That’s his No. 1 challenge. Unfortunately, he’s got a handful of challenges here that are physically related. That’s why he’s got the status he’s got today.”
