The Green Bay Packers are getting set to begin their 2026 NFL campaign with a game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, they will have to start the year without their best defensive player, Micah Parsons.
The Packers opened training camp with Parsons on the active/PUP list as he continued recovering from the knee injury that ended his 2025 season. On Sunday, however, Green Bay moved Parsons to the reserve/PUP list, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The designation means Parsons will miss at least the first four games of the season before he can return to practice and eventually play.
Following the team’s decision, Parsons teased his return on his Instagram Story. The four-time Pro Bowler shared a photo of himself wearing a Packers jersey with a short caption: “Loading.”
Parsons suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Green Bay’s Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos last December. He underwent surgery and has spent the offseason working through his rehabilitation.
As of this writing, there is still no official return date from the Packers. On Aug. 5, however, Parsons told Packers.com’s Mike Spofford that a Week 6 return was “very realistic.” That would put his potential return against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, on Oct. 19 at Lambeau Field.
Micah Parsons gave an update on his rehab and was his usual intriguing, engaging self.

Parsons arrived in Green Bay via a blockbuster trade with Dallas in August 2025 and immediately delivered. He recorded 12.5 sacks, 41 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 14 games before his injury.
