The NFL world went into a frenzy after Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons publicly demanded a trade on Friday. His tense contract extension battle with the Cowboys collapsed, and now everyone wants a shot at landing the three-time All-Pro.
NFL fans across the country pitched their teams as potential landing spots for Parsons to be traded to. With endless jersey swaps and unreasonable projected trades, it felt like all 32 fan bases would do anything to add Parsons. Which shouldn’t surprise anyone, his production and talent would immediately boost any defense in the league.
New York Giants fans joined in on that wishful thinking. On Friday, fans pulled old comments by Parsons referencing his desire to play with the Giants' first-round pick and former Penn State defender Abdul Carter. Back on January 9, Parsons excitedly posted that “it was only right” to be paired with the former Penn Stater well before the 2025 NFL Draft.
It’s only right the NFL lets me and Abdul play together!!

Parsons was also featured in Bleacher Report’s 2025 NFL Draft coverage and was expressive when reacting to Carter coming off the board. He wasn’t just boastful of Carter’s talent; he also surprisingly hyped up the New York market and the Giants’ roster despite them being a bitter rival.
“New York is the biggest stage. I can’t wait to see him shine,” said Parsons immediately following the pick, “This is an A+ pick…Putting him next to Dexter Lawrence, understanding that he’s always going to require double teams…He’s going to have so much fun in New York.”

I completely agree. This defense will be very exciting to watch for years to come. pic.twitter.com/xmaZ9Fab5b
Giants fans on X are citing both statements as reasons for Giants GM Joe Schoen to pick up the phone and make this move. Overall, there has been fantasizing about the potential lineup Parsons would create.

Imagine this
While it would build the most disruptive pass rush duo in the league, it’s wishful thinking to believe this trade would actually happen.
The primary reason it wouldn’t come to fruition is the rarity of inter-division trades in the NFL. The most recent example of a trade between the Cowboys and Giants happened last August when the Giants sent nose tackle Jordan Phillips to Dallas.
Trading away a nose tackle you’re likely going to cut during the preseason isn’t exactly concrete evidence that this trade is possible. Giving one of your division rivals defensive line depth is one thing. For the Cowboys to give a team they’ll have to face twice every season one of the best young pass rushers in the NFL is asinine. No compensation would justify strengthening a team you’re fighting for a playoff spot with.
That said, Jerry Jones is an enigma who consistently defies logic in his decision-making. For now, Parsons becoming a Giant will have to stay a dream.
