Michael Strahan's game-worn Super Bowl 42 jersey expected to fetch over $100K at auction

If you want to own a piece of history from the New York Giants' Super Bowl 42 win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, now's your chance. 

Michael Strahan's game-worn jersey from Super Bowl 42 is up for auction on the Goldin Auction's website and is expected to fetch over $100,000. The starting bid was $20,000 and the current bid sits at $39,000.

"Offered here is the premier Michael Strahan game-used jersey. This jersey was worn by Strahan during Super Bowl XLII and was the last Giants’ jersey ever worn by him in his Hall of Fame career and has been photo matched by the game-used experts at the MeiGray Group to Super Bowl XLII," the description of the jersey says on the Goldin Auctions website.

"This jersey shows outstanding game use with numerous grass and dirt stains from the University of Phoenix Stadium’s turf and features Strahan’s number “92” sewn on in red tackle twill on the front, back and shoulders."

The game, which was played on Feb. 3, 2008 in Arizona, is largely considered one of the best in Super Bowl history. It was Strahan's final game of his legendary NFL career. 

New England entered the game as 12-point favorites over New York, but Strahan and the Giants upset Brady and the Patriots 17-14. 

While quarterback Eli Manning had a solid game, so did Strahan. He finished with three tackles and a memorable sack of Brady. 

He later was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and currently has a television career on Good Morning America. 

The jersey auction runs through Aug. 22.
