You blinked, and now Mike Evans is entering his 12th NFL season—all of which have been spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Evans has often flown under the radar, but when it's all said and done, his numbers will stack up with the all-time greats at the wide receiver position. He's been the definition of consistency and excellence throughout his career.
The former Texas A&M standout has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in every single season he’s played. In 2024, he hauled in 74 receptions for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns. Over the course of his career, he’s totaled 12,684 receiving yards and 105 touchdowns.
But now, as training camp heats up, questions are beginning to surface about Evans’ future—and the veteran wideout just gave his clearest hint yet about what lies ahead.
“Right now, I’m just focused on this season,” Evans said during an appearance on the 'Up & Adams Show With Kay Adams.' “It’s the last year of my deal, I’m obviously an older player, but I feel great. Retirement at the end of the season isn’t off the table, and playing another two to five years isn’t off the table… well, I’m not playing another five years. I know I’m not playing five more years. But right now, if you ask me today, yeah—it’s easy for me to say I could play another two to three years.”
As for finishing his career with the Buccaneers, Evans didn’t hesitate when asked about a potential contract extension and what the future could look like in Tampa Bay.
“Yeah, I’m a Buc for life, no matter what.”

Recently, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles spoke highly of Evans, saying he looks the 'freshest' he’s ever seen during training camp.
“This is probably the freshest I’ve seen him in training camp from a fresh in practice standpoint and a competing standpoint,” Bowles said. “I’ve never seen him better. Usually he gets a tweak here and there and has to sit out. He hasn’t had that. He’s been jumping in every time. He blocks. He runs routes. It looks like he’s having more fun than he’s ever had and he’s found the fountain of youth. We’re gonna ride him ‘til the cows come home.”
