Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has a reputation for generating laughs via the unique phrases he unleashes during news conferences.
Tomlin has also become somewhat of a polarizing figure among Pittsburgh fans due to the fact that he hasn't notched a postseason victory since the 2016 season.
While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Tomlin addressed the Steelers' playoff losing streak as only he could.
"It's not about the organization or myself. It's about this collective," Tomlin explained, per Ross McCorkle of Steelers Depot. "And quite frankly, most of these men don't care about the last whatever years that you mentioned. Most of 'em are new to us, and so that's where my focus is. I'm certainly not gonna unpack my bags on the collective's bed, if you will. I'm excited about doing it and doing it this week with this collective."
The Steelers have lost six consecutive playoff games under Tomlin. Most recently, Pittsburgh suffered a wild-card playoff defeat against the rival Baltimore Ravens last January.
As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the 10-7 Steelers as three-point home underdogs for their upcoming "Monday Night Football" wild-card playoff game versus the 12-5 Houston Texans.
Unlike in previous years, Tomlin will have future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers serving as his QB1 against the Texans. This past Sunday night, Rodgers tossed a go-ahead touchdown pass with under a minute to play in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh's win-or-go-home game versus the Ravens.
"Certainly the efforts of Aaron Rodgers is always helpful," Tomlin added, according to Josh Carney of Steelers Depot. "As we've talked a lot in these environments and circumstances, he's just got a unique resume, a unique talent, a unique thirst for significant moments. And I'm never surprised when he smiles in the face of adversity and delivers for us, as he did [Sunday against the Ravens]. And so I'm thankful for that."
Rodgers, 42, hasn't yet said if he will retire whenever the Steelers play their last game of the season. Tomlin previously made it known he is "committed to" extending Rodgers' career for as long as possible.
