The New England Patriots are moving on.
They took down the Los Angeles Chargers with a dominant 16-3 win, making a statement and shutting down the narrative about their easy schedule.
That's why, after the game, head coach Mike Vrabel wanted to tip his hat to his players.
He acknowledged how tough and physical they were, and sent a clear message about his aspirations for the remainder of the postseason.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to sit here and be your coach. You guys worked so hard for this opportunity,” Vrabel said in the locker room. “We said all along you have to be willing to spill some blood, and the big dogs come out in January. Milt came over there and knocked the living s**t out of him. But I ain’t afraid to spill a little blood either.”
The Patriots will now play either the Houston Texans or the Pittsburgh Steelers. Regardless of the opposition, their hard-hitting nature will have to be on full display.
Many fans doubted the Patriots' ability to succeed in the postseason, given that they had faced mostly losing teams this season.
Their win on Monday proved that their record wasn't a fluke, and even if Drake Maye wasn't at his best, he's clearly a star in the making.
Coaching matters, and this team is 100 percent committed to Vrabel. They'd run through a brick wall for one another, and that type of determination can take a team the distance in a win-or-go-home situation.
