Mike Vrabel Reportedly Considering Bold Patriots Roster Decision

The New England Patriots are entering a new era under Mike Vrabel, and significant changes have already been made.

Free agency was a busy time for Vrabel, and the NFL Draft presents an opportunity to add multiple top prospects with four top 80 picks. A new report indicates that with the changing tides, the Patriots could move players from the previous regime.

According to Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Patriots are "open to trading players from the previous coaching staff." Schultz notes that wide receiver Kayshon Boutte is a player to watch, but there are still others to keep an eye on.

The Patriots have already moved off one of their 2024 draft picks in sending Joe Milton III to the Dallas Cowboys. Second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk could also be on the move following a disappointing rookie year. Javon Baker was also lackluster in his rookie year and could be another wide receiver sent elsewhere.

Following a strong 2023 season, the Patriots spent $24 million over three years on Anfernee Jennings. While he was solid in 2024, the Patriots could look to move off him if there's an edge rusher in the 2025 draft class that the front office falls in love with.

Kendrick Bourne is another strong contender for a move. He signed a three-year, $33 million deal in 2024 free agency, and he didn't live up to the hype in 2024. Bourne had just 28 receptions for 305 yards and one touchdown in 2024. His Patriots tenure hasn't lived up to the potential he showed in his first year, and he could be a candidate to be moved during the draft.

Running back Antonio Gibson and tight end Hunter Henry could also be moved, though neither is a significant burden on the Patriots' cap space, and both are solid depth pieces at worst.

Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, the Patriots are looking to reshape their roster under Vrabel. Part of how they can change the roster is by moving on from players from the previous regime, whether it's their draft picks or free agent signings.

Overall, the Patriots are likely to make adjustments to their roster both during and after the draft. With Vrabel's influence over the roster, everyone other than Drake Maye from the 2024 offseason is on the table to be traded.
