Mike Zimmer has brutal quote about cutting struggling Vikings kicker
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings brought in a new kicker on Monday, and coach Mike Zimmer did not mince words when it came to the outgoing one.

The Vikings cut rookie Daniel Carlson a day after he missed three field goals, the third of which was a 35-yarder that would have won the game in overtime. That sealed his fate, and when asked about Carlson’s release, Zimmer was pretty blunt in his assessment.

Even though the team took him on the regular season roster out of preseason, it’s fair to say Zimmer always had concerns about Carlson’s ability and composure. That came to light again in Week 2, and from there, the Vikings had no choice but to get rid of him and bring in an established veteran in Dan Bailey instead.
