The Miami Dolphins are going through another fire sale, moving on from Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb earlier in the week.
That has cast doubts over Minkah Fitzpatrick's future with the organization.
Fitzpatrick is one of the most versatile and hard-hitting safeties in the game, and his ability to dominate in the box and in the defensive backfield is rare.
That's why, with what new defensive coordinator Christian Parker said in his introductory press conference, the Dallas Cowboys should sell the farm to get him in Arlington.
"Very important. He's a corner sometimes, he's a safety sometimes, he's a backer sometimes. He's a defensive end when he's blitzing," Parker explained. "You want to have a guy who has natural instincts and ability to feel the game and play football. That's definitely an important guy to a good defense."
We already saw what the Seattle Seahawks were able to do with Nick Emmanwori. Parker could strive to run something similar with a do-it-all safety like Fitzpatrick there.
The Cowboys gave up the most points (30.1) and passing yards per game last season (251.5) and the third-most total yards (391.4). Fitzpatrick would help solve their issues in the secondary while also providing some much-needed support against the run.
Of course, accommodating Fitzpatrick's $18.8 million cap hit (via Spotrac) would require some financial juggling for Jerry Jones. According to Over The Cap, the Cowboys are $30 million over the salary cap.
Also, the Cowboys don't have draft picks to trade in the second and third rounds, so they would probably have to compensate for that by adding valuable 2027 draft picks to the trade package.
That's a steep price to pay, but it's also one that could finally solve most of this team's issues with a single move.
