Reports are out that newly acquired Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent, and he is requesting a new contract from the Dolphins.
The safety, who was re-acquired by the Dolphins on June 30th, currently has no guaranteed money on his existing deal, which will pay him $15.5 million this season. This is prompting him to want a new contract with more financial stability beyond this season.
Fitzpatrick will be 29 in November, and it will be interesting to see if the Dolphins want to invest big money, or any money, in a player who is approaching 30 who, in the past, demanded out of Miami after his rookie season.
Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Zach Sieler is also wanting a new contract as he has no guaranteed money beyond this year on his deal, it will be interesting if Grier pays one, both, or none prior to the season.

Fitzpatrick has played in 106 games, started 101 and has 20 career interceptions and 608 career tackles.
He is a 5-time Pro Bowl safety and a 3-time first-team All-Pro. He is one of the elite safeties in the NFL today.
Even with Minkah Fitzpatrick on the roster now, the Dolphins’ secondary is currently in shambles, with Miami losing all four starters from last season. This offseason, they have added Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis at the safety position. They have added cornerbacks Cornell Armstrong and Jack Jones in the past 48 hours to go with Cam Smith, Storm Duck, and Kader Kohou, as well as any rookies they add at that position.
With Ramsey now gone, the cornerback position is the biggest weakness heading into the season. Although Fitzpatrick can play some cornerback, being an all-pro safety, he should see the majority of his snaps, if not all, at that position.
