The NFL Draft is going to be interesting for the Minnesota Vikings.
They have a lot of needs to fortify in free agency. However, they will likely do so, as general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has done so each year. Free agency is for filling holes on the roster and the NFL Draft is for acquiring talent.
In this mock draft, the Vikings find a way to acquire talent and fortify needs on the roster.
This is a really weird one. The Vikings don't need an off-ball linebacker, as they have both Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr. at the position. However, Pace is more of a specialist than a three-down player at the position. Here is what SB Nation's JP Acosta said about Campbell that rings true with why he could be the selection when he sent Campbell to the Vikings in his latest mock draft.
Brian Flores loves freak athletes on his defense, and Campbell fits the bill at LB. I mean, how many MIKE LBs in college do you see carrying the post from the second receiver in Tampa 2? Pairing Campbell with Blake Cashman would allow LB Ivan Pace to be used in a more specific role and give the Vikings a true three-down LB.
Sometimes, you just need to take really good football players in the NFL Draft and Campbell's ability plus versatility could elevate the Vikings game to another level.
3rd and goal you normally want to take your top receiver and isolate him against a LB, but Jihaad Campbell had other plans.

The defensive line needs to be addressed in one way or another. The priority should be with pass rushers on the interior, but they need talent overall. Jonathan Bullard and Jerry Tillery are set to be free agents and Harrison Phillips might be best kicking over to 3T.
Jordan Phillips wowed everyone at the Shrine Game with his explosiveness and ability to wreak havoc on the interior. He's also a younger player at just 20 years old.
The Vikings need to find a way to come out of this draft with a running back. It's a loaded class from top to bottom with the potential of 30 running backs having draftable grades. One player that could slip through the cracks is Smith, but not for the reason you might think.
When he started at Miami, Smith was a wide receiver and has only played running back for two seasons. Having that little experience at the position is an interesting one for Smith, but that's worth taking a risk on in the fifth round, especially after the success that Tyrone Tracy Jr. had last year.
Cornerback is an interesting position for the Vikings. They need to find ways to add talent at the position with four players set to be free agents from their secondary and Harrison Smith's future currently in doubt. This mock draft has the Vikings not taking one in their first three picks feels like a tough sell right now.
Marshall was once viewed as a talented player who could end up being a first-round pick, but that didn't happen. He played in 45 games with the Gators and was very productive on the ball with 8 interceptions and 25 passes defended with good size and length. Consistency was always an issue with Marshall, but he's a good guy to take a chance on in round five.
