One of the biggest perceived weaknesses on the Minnesota Vikings has been the depth at wide receiver after Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. With the latter set to miss the first three games of the 2025 season due to a suspension , many believed that just having Jalen Nailor wouldn't be enough, but that in itself was debate.
Once Nailor injured his hand in joint practices against the New England Patriots, the writing was on the wall, and reports surfaced early on Wednesday morning that they were looking to trade for a wide receiver.
With Jordan Addison suspended and multiple injuries, the #Vikings are seriously exploring veteran receivers in the trade market, per sources.

The uncertainty with Nailor and the depth behind him is the likely genesis for exploring the move. Even if Nailor was fully healthy, there have been some concerns about both his ability and consistency, as drops have been a major issue for him over the course of his career, especially at the end of last year.
After him, it's been up and down. Lucky Jackson has stepped up, but multiple drops over the last couple of weeks in both practice and against the New England Patriots. Thayer Thomas looks like a WR5 at best as a slot only option. I have been a fan of Jeshaun Jones, but there are still some inconsistencies with his game that give you pause.
There are some interesting options out there on the free agent market, like Amari Cooper and Gabe Davis, but exploring a trade is a signal that they don't like the free agent options.
This could be exactly how the Vikings end up bringing back Adam Thielen, who has been often talked about due to the nature of the Panthers wide receiver room.
If the Vikings end up making a trade, they do have some capital to move, including multiple picks in round five, which could make things easier for a trade to be made.
