Minnesota Vikings continue to manipulate NFL rules with latest roster moves

Over the last few weeks, the Minnesota Vikings have done a great job in manipulating the practice squad for their own benefit. They did so again on Tuesday with a bevy of roster moves.

The Vikings made the following moves:

  • Released RB Myles Gaskin from the active roster
  • Signed RB Myles Gaskin to the practice squad
  • Signed OT Julian Pearl to the practice squad
  • Released ILB Dallas Gant from the practice squad
  • Released OT Marcellus Johnson from the practice squad

The Vikings have moved Gaskin from the practice squad to the active roster and vice versa multiple times this season to try and preserve his final elevation. With the trade for running back Cam Akers, the Vikings don't have to worry about Gaskin being active for the time being. He will remain on the practice squad until something happens on the active roster.

Pearl was an undrafted free agent out of Illinois. Standing at 6-6" and 325 lbs, Pearl signed with the Baltimore Ravens and ended up being waived during final cuts. He was a long-time starter for the Fighting Illini, as he started 39 of 46 games in his career.

The Vikings do have an open spot on the roster currently and it will be interesting to see how they fill it.
