The Minnesota Vikings entered the 2025 NFL Draft with just four picks. They had so few selections due to a bevy of trades from general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. He made so many trades with the 2025 NFL Draft picks that three of them included the 2025 sixth-round pick, who they traded for Cam Akers, got pack for Ed Ingram, and then sent again to Jordan Mason.
How much Adofo-Mensah has traded has been a point of contention among many fans and analysts, especially when you consider how poor the drafting has been over his tenure.
Adofo-Mensah has made 28 picks in his four drafts and has been more than willing to move up and down the board throughout his tenure. That has led to smaller classes over the last three years. That looks to change this upcoming year as the Vikings are currently projected to have multiple draft picks.
In 2027 and 2028, the Vikings have their full slate of draft picks. There is a lot of time for that to change over the course of the next few years, but the 2026 slate of draft picks has seen a few changes.
Officially, the Minnesota Vikings have six picks on hand.
The seventh-round pick came from the Cam Akers trade, as it was a sixth/seventh-round pick swap. The fourth-round pick was sent to the Jacksonville Jaguars for Cam Robinson, as he hit his playing time incentive. Because he hit the playing time incentive, the Vikings don't get the seventh-round pick that was also conditional.
What trends well for the Vikings is how well they have maneuvered through the free agency process to get compensatory picks back.
Right now, the Vikings are projected to receive two compensatory picks:
The fifth-round pick for Robinson could become a fourth-round pick if Daniel Jones ends up playing enough to elevate that into a fourth-round pick. The Vikings also believe they could potentially get one for Trent Sherfield, which would be a good get for them. That would likely be a seventh-round pick, but it's still extra capital to work with.
Don't be surprised if the Vikings end up maneuvering with their draft picks this offseason to acquire a veteran or two.
