Going into training camp, the Vikings were relatively healthy. They placed just three players on either the physically unable to perform or non-football injury lists in tight end T.J. Hockenson, running back DeWayne McBride and special teams ace NaJee Thompson.
Hockenson is on his way to a potential return and McBride was activated a couple of days into training camp leaving Thompson as the only player left on the lists. On Thursday, we got a positive update on the key special teamer.
The Star Tribune's Andrew Krammer reported that Thompson isn't ready to play on Saturday against the Raiders but is hoping to be ready against the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, August 24th.
Another injury note: CB NaJee Thompson, on PUP and sidelined all summer with a nagging left knee injury, obviously won't play Saturday but is hoping to be ready by the Aug. 24 preseason finale in Philadelphia. https://t.co/Rg2K46Wopu

Getting Thompson back would be a huge aspect for the Vikings as he is an excellent special teamer. His absence will allow others to get more reps but he is a tremendous gunner on punt teams and in kickoff coverage as well.
Good news all around for the Vikings.
