The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams enter the game with two losses, but the Vikings have just three wins, while they are coming off their bye week. As much as the 14 day layoff is an advantage for the Vikings, the Eagles will have 10 days of rest, which gives the Vikings less of an advantage in that sense.
Both teams will be properly motivated to win the game, and the majority of the country will have a chance to see it.
When: Sunday, October 12th at 12:00 P.M. CT
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
Each week, the NFL has two games on either CBS or Fox in each network, with the other getting just one. This week, Fox has games in both time slots, with the Vikings being shown across the country, as the Vikings game will be in every area that is red, with the New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears in blue and the Carolina Panthers vs. New York Jets in green.
One of the more intriguing matchups is defensive coordinator Brian Flores taking on Jalen Hurts. They met back in Week 2 of 2023, and Flores dared the Eagles to beat them on the ground. Well, D'Andre Swift ran for nearly 200 yards, and they beat the Vikings on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. This is going to be a much different game than it was in 2023, especially because the Vikings' personnel is better this go around.
The big key is going to be how Hurts can handle the Vikings when they play zone coverage and blitz. Hurts ranks 28th in EPA/dropback against zone coverage, and it drops significantly from -0.04 when not blitzed to -0.32 when blitzed. The Vikings blitzed second-most in the NFL at over 35% and play the most two-high coverage of any team in the NFL per Fantasy Points Data at 69.8%. They are set up to stop the Eagles through the air, but stopping them on the ground will be key once again. With Blake Cashman set to return, it could be the factor that seals a win for the Vikings.
