Missed facemask call mars end of Eagles-Commanders

Missed facemask call has huge implications in Eagles-Commanders

Is there such a thing as an NFL game not impacted by officiating?

Philadelphia tight end Dallas Goedert fumbled the football on an Eagles drive down two midway through the fourth quarter. On replay, it was clear Commanders linebacker Jamin Davis grabbed Goedert's facemask.

Instead of what should have been a 15-yard personal foul penalty, the result was a fumble recovered by Washington. Joey Slye kicked a field goal to give the Commanders a five-point lead, 26-21.

It's hard to feel bad for the previously-undefeated Eagles, and the Commanders did more than enough without help from the refs to win the game. That's the biggest shame of all. Washington didn't need the help. The refs gave them more than enough anyway.
