'MNF' best bets: These receivers are catching on

NFL Week 6 wraps up with the 3-2 Dallas Cowboys heading to Los Angeles to take on the 2-2 Chargers, who are coming off their bye. There are some intriguing storylines in this one, but the one to keep an eye on is former Dallas offensive coordinator Kellen Moore facing off against his former team. Moore figures to know this Cowboys defense well, and with Austin Ekeler back in the fold, don't be surprised if Justin Herbert and co. have themselves a big night.

While that potential edge might exist, there's also a clearer advantage at play: this Chargers secondary has been quite bad. They've allowed the most yards per game to wide receivers and the most 20+ yard passes per game.

With all of this established, we're thinking a pair of WR1s might be in for a big day.

Prepare for a back-and-forth offensive affair with these two star receivers

As we alluded, this Chargers defense has really had trouble slowing down receivers. CeeDee Lamb is the top option on this offense but he's been a bit quiet the past few weeks, averaging just 46 receiving yards per game.

Still, Lamb is leading this offense in targets and did have 143 yards back in Week 2, so we know the potential is still there.

Then there's Keenan Allen. Allen has averaged 108.5 yards per game this season, and in 2021 against the Cowboys, he finished with 108 yards on just four catches. Moore is sure to scheme up ways for Allen to get the ball, and considering he's averaging 11 targets per game this season, that work should translate to yardage.

We're taking a shot on these two going back and forth, and with the over/under set at 51 points, Vegas certainly expects a shootout. Here's how we'll ride that wave:

Betting: Keenan Allen & CeeDee Lamb 100+ yards each (+625 DraftKings)

In the news ...

NFL Week 6 sees the last of the unbeatens and two teams securing their place among their conference elite — In a pair of ugly losses, both San Francisco and Philadelphia fell for the first time this season, meaning we have no undefeated teams just six weeks in. San Fran lost as 10-point favorites to P.J. Walker and the Browns, while the Eagles blew it late to the New York Jets. Meanwhile, Detroit and Miami look very much for real. Both teams are now 5-1 and firing on all cylinders. Kansas City (+240), Miami (+400) and Buffalo (+450) are the three favorites to win the AFC, while San Francisco (+165), Philadelphia (+260) and Detroit (+550) are the favorites to advance to the Super Bowl out of the NFC.

Jordan Montgomery throws gem for Texas Rangers in ALCS Game 1 — The all-Texas ALCS got started on Sunday, and it was Jordan Montgomery out-dueling Justin Verlander to power the first win of the series. Montgomery struck out six and allowed no runs in 6.1 innings, and Texas ended up downing the Houston Astros 2-0. The series continues tonight with Nathan Eovaldi vs. Framber Valdez, with Valdez and Houston the slight favorites at -120. The Rangers are now -175 to advance to the World Series.

Notre Dame and Washington headline college football Week 7 results — The biggest game of the college football weekend was between No. 8 Oregon and No. 7 Washington, and it was the host Huskies emerging victorious, holding on for a 36-33 win over the Ducks. Washington is now ranked fifth in the nation at 6-0 and +800 to win it all. Meanwhile, Sam Hartman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish crushed USC and Caleb Williams, winning 48-20. The win slid up the 6-2 Fighting Irish to No. 15 in the country.
