The Cleveland Browns’ 2026 schedule is here, and there is a lot to look forward to in terms of storylines. Coming off a 5-12 season, they will play the easiest opponents in terms of strength of schedule. They will also travel the 2nd to the least amount, including zero international games. The team will have one primetime game, which will occur at home on Thursday night football versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Starting the season in Jacksonville, then heading to Tampa Bay, is an intriguing first couple of games. Following the away games, the Browns will open their season at home versus the Carolina Panthers. As the NFL offseason concludes, OTAs and training camps arrive, and the regular season is fast approaching.
When the Browns face the Buccaneers in Week 2, it will be the first time Baker Mayfield has faced his former team. A revenge game, according to many, but for the Browns, this will be a good test against a perennial playoff team. Tampa’s offense features a well-balanced attack with a solid run game and effective air attack. On the defensive side of the ball, their pass rush got a lot better this offseason, adding Rueben Bain Jr. in the NFL Draft.
With the departure of Mike Evans in free agency, Tampa will look towards Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin in the passing game. The Browns’ secondary will give them a good test with Denzel Ward and Tysen Campbell in coverage. What is most exciting to watch is how Tampa’s offensive line contains Myles Garrett off the edge. Mayfield and Garrett were once teammates, now on opposite sides of the field.
An early Week 2 matchup is big for how the Browns want to set the tone. Starting 2-0 versus 0-2 heading home, can change the momentum entirely. Nobody is going to want to dominate this matchup more than Mayfield, so the Browns better be up for the challenge.
The Browns’ only primetime game in 2026 comes versus the Steelers on Thursday Night Football. The Cleveland versus Pittsburgh rivalry is still huge and seemingly has gone to the home team the past couple of seasons. Pittsburgh handles business in its stadium, and Cleveland does the same in theirs. With Aaron Rodgers re-signing not too long ago, it appears he will be coming into the Week 4 matchup as the starter, looking for revenge.
The Browns held the Steelers offense in tact last season, but will have to watch out for more playmakers they added this offseason. In 2026, Rodgers will play the “point guard” role and distribute the ball to his weapons on the outside. Making the focus of this matchup, the receivers and backs in open space. For the Browns offensively, this will not be an easy matchup with the Steelers defense being atop the league essentially every year. Headlined by TJ Watt and Jalen Ramsey, the Browns will have to run the ball consistently and eliminate turnovers.
Nevertheless, this will be a great game early in the season with high stakes for both teams. If the trend continues, the Browns will have an advantage in winning five of the last six at home since 2019.
Last season, these two teams faced off in a thriller that combined for 60 points in the wintery conditions. They will play again in 2026, when the teams face off in Week 7 in Nashville. Cam Ward will look to improve on his up-and-down rookie season, while the Browns need to win games on the road. What carried the Titans in last season’s matchup was the impressive performance by Tony Pollard. The Browns had no answer for the Titans’ rushing attack, which took Garrett essentially out of the game.
What was clicking for the Browns offense was Shedeur Sanders’ quarterback play. This was Sanders’ best game of his career, which contributed to the Browns’ best offensive performance of the season. Both teams make major changes this offseason with new coaching additions, free agent acquisitions, and key Draft picks ready to make immediate impacts.
Whether this game lives up to the matchup in 2025 is up in the air, but one thing is for sure: the future stars of the league will be on full display.
The Week 14 matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons will be the first time former head coach Kevin Stefanski is back in Cleveland. A lot of mixed emotions after the firing of the former coach of the year, but one thing is for sure, and both teams are going to want to win this one badly. The Falcons, similar to the Browns, have a quarterback competition of their own going on, with Penix and Tagovailoa battling it out in camp. The Falcons should lean on their stars this game, with Bijan Robinson and Drake London being some of the best in the business.
From a defensive standpoint, the Falcons have a talented young pass rush with an improved secondary. This game could really go either way, with no team having the advantage at the moment. The Browns’ young receiving core should have a good opportunity to make some noise in this game. AJ and Avieon Terrell headline the Falcons secondary, with two solid safeties behind them. The recipe for success in this game is winning on the defensive side and keeping Stefanski’s offense in check.
A game where these teams don’t meet often creates many different storylines for both opposing coaching staffs.
The final game of the regular season could come with many implications for both teams. The playoffs could be on the line, with this game potentially deciding who gets in. Unlikely, but a division title could also be on the line. What makes this game intriguing for the Browns is whether this is the last time Deshaun Watson is in a Browns uniform. You could say the same for many players on this roster, including Myles Garrett. Recently, the Browns haven’t had much success in Cincinnati, losing three of the last four years there.
Joe Burrow has made life hard for the Browns’ defense, connecting with his All-Pro receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Garrett always shows up versus the Bengals, making history by breaking the sack record in Week 18 last season. Much of the roster was hurt or checked out for the season when the two teams faced off in Week 18, raising the question if that will be the case this upcoming year.
A matchup that contains two teams who have fallen short of expectations the past couple of years, will look to get back to the postseason in 2026.
On paper, this schedule should give Browns fans a lot of hope and excitement for next season. Building off their five-win season in 2025, the team improved in many areas of need. The quarterback situation is still a question mark, but the team around them should elevate whoever is starting. Great divisional matchups, a primetime game versus their rival, and revenge matchups all make up a great 2026 schedule.
