Fantasy football fans love deep diving into data, statistics, and offseason rumors to identify their top priorities heading into the next season. Nowadays, platforms provide countless metrics that provide valuable information, but often leave fans overstimulated and confused. One of the best stats one can rely on when trying to find fantasy football sleepers is targets. Here are some of the most targeted players in 2024 that may catch you by surprise.
Jerry Jeudy was the seventh most targeted receiver in the league last year. Even after his breakout season, where he finished as the WR15, the fantasy community remains hesitant to select the receiver in 2025. His current ADP as WR33 is reflective of the concerns surrounding the quarterback situation in Cleveland, along with the similar sentiment surrounding the offense as a whole. While the offense remains one of the less desirable in the league, if one of their new quarterbacks manages to step up in 2025, look for Jeudy to blow his current ADP out of the water.
When we think of highly targeted receivers on the New York Giants, Malik Nabers is often the only name that comes to mind. Trailing by only 30 targets, Wan’Dale Robinson also served as a steady target in the offense. Despite his abysmal finish as WR41 last year, his target share can no longer be ignored now that quarterback Daniel Jones has left the Big Apple. While fantasy managers shouldn’t expect a breakout of any kind, an injury to Nabers or a resurgence of the offense could change Robinson’s fortunes in terms of fantasy finish in 2025.
Despite only playing 15 games in 2024, Jakobi Meyers managed to receive the most targets he’s had since entering the league. Even with the breakout of rookie tight end Brock Bowers, Meyers managed to remain a focal point of the offense. While the arrival of top-10 pick Ashton Jeanty, RB, may deter the receiver from remaining a focal point, the overall improvement to the offense may lend more opportunities for the receiver to capitalize on his high target share.
Calvin Ridley was a fantasy sleeper for many last season. Riding on the hopes that quarterback Will Levis would put together a respectable campaign, many, if not all, were disappointed in the receivers’ performance. Now that Levis is out of the picture, many are forgetting to recognize that Ridley remains the best offensive weapon this roster has to offer. Many of the targets the receiver saw in 2024 were simply not catchable. If the team’s new quarterback, Cam Ward, can do what many hoped Levis would do last year, Ridley is bound to break out.
In the Baltimore offense, everyone has a role to play. Zay Flowers serves as the go-to receiving target when working the middle of the field. Although he won’t put up historic touchdown numbers or explode for a 30-point fantasy game, he serves as a safe option that the offense needs to keep things humming. Despite missing two games last season, the receiver managed to finish as the WR24 on the season. His current ADP as WR26 serves as a fair price tag for a player who has little upside but offers one of the safest floors the market has to offer.
Once again, the receiving room in San Francisco appears to be an injury nightmare. With four of their top six receivers getting the injury bug before the season kicks off, many are left to wonder if there will be anyone left come week one. While Jauan Jennings is currently sidelined with a calf injury, it would be wise for fantasy managers to monitor the San Francisco 49ers’ receiving room as we get closer to kickoff. If Jennings is ready to go come week one, he could serve as a solid wide receiver asset until superstar Brandon Aiyuk is back to full strength.
Looking at which players were targeted the most last year is one of the best ways to identify sleepers for fantasy success in the future. Despite several of these names not finishing in the season as top-24 wide receivers for fantasy football, it would be wise for managers to take note, as positive regression may be in the cards for 2025.
