Mutual interest in reunion between Will Fuller, Deshaun Watson in Cleveland?

Deshaun Watson already has one of the league's top targets on his new team in Amari Cooper, but it looks like he might be getting an old friend in the mix too.

There is believed to be mutual interest between the Browns and free agent receiver Will Fuller, according to analyst Jordan Schultz. Watson and Fuller played together for four seasons.

It makes sense that Cleveland would want to reunite the pair, as they were an elite tandem briefly in Houston. And with Jarvis Landry being cut earlier this week, the Browns are in need of a secondary threat at wide receiver.

Fuller wasn't the same talent he previously was after leaving Houston, as he played sparingly in 2021 with Miami and logged just four total receptions. But with Watson back throwing him the ball, it's possible he could return to form as one of the league's premier deep threats on the outside.

From 2017-2020, when both Watson and Fuller were with the Texans, Fuller reeled in 162 catches for 2,475 yards and 22 touchdowns. His best season statistically speaking came in 2020, when he caught 53 passes for 879 yards and eight touchdowns. He has struggled with injuries, though, as he has played in just 55 games over his six-year career.

Houston selected Fuller 21st overall in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame, one year before they picked Watson 12th overall in 2017 out of Clemson. As Schultz points out, Fuller has many other suitors, but the relationship between him and Watson may be enough to convince him to join Cleveland.
