Whether one believes that Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns is better than Green Bay Packers newcomer Micah Parsons or vice versa, it is undeniable that they are two of the most feared singular defensive forces in the NFL today.
Garrett may be ahead of Parsons in terms of the overall body of work, primarily because he has been in the NFL longer; however, it’s not hard to see the latter accomplishing what the former has and will.
Garrett isn’t putting himself over Parsons or any other player in the game today. For the Browns superstar defensive end, it’s enough that he and Parsons are in the top tier.
“I think we’re two of the very best,” Garrett said, per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. “I think we’re two of the very best of this generation. We just got to continue to lead the way. There are definitely some other names in that conversation, but I think saying that he’s in it and that I am in it is not out of the norm.”
Garrett and the Browns are the clear underdogs in the matchup versus Green Bay this coming Sunday, despite being the home team.
Cleveland is undefeated, while the Packers are 2-0 after wins against quality teams that made the NFL playoffs last season.
But with Garrett, the Browns can always count on someone to make things happen on defense. Garrett surely has Green Bay putting a red circle around him, with the Packers’ offensive line facing the daunting task of slowing down the former No. 1 NFL draft pick overall.
Through two games this season, the 29-year-old Garrett already has 3.5 sacks to go with seven solo tackles.
