Myles Garrett said Friday that he wasn't surprised when he heard former teammate Baker Mayfield had led the Los Angeles Rams to a last-minute 17-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on "Thursday Night Football."
Garrett told reporters that he went to sleep at the end of the third quarter when Mayfield and the Rams were still trailing the Raiders 16-3, but woke up to a text message, informing him of the comeback.
Mayfield was released by the Carolina Panthers on Monday and claimed off of waivers by Los Angeles on Tuesday, meaning that the 2018 No. 1 overall pick had only approximately 48 hours to learn the Rams' playbook.

The Browns star defensive end was selected first overall by the Browns in 2017 and played with Mayfield for four seasons before the signal-caller was traded to Carolina last offseason. Garrett said that he will continue rooting for his former teammate wherever he plays.

The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner at Oklahoma came off the bench early during the Week 14 game on Thursday and after some ups downs throughout the contest, Mayfield helped lead a 98-yard, game-winning drive in the final 1:41 of regulation to give Los Angeles a stunning victory. Mayfield and company had no timeouts left for the entirety of the final drive but were aided by some costly penalties on the Las Vegas defense.
The 27-year-old quarterback hooked up with Van Jefferson in the end zone on a 23-yard pass for the win with 10 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Mayfield finished the night 22-for-35 for 230 passing yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions.
