National Analyst On Orlando Brown Signing: 'Not A Top 20 Tackle In The League'
USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals are receiving high praise for the Orlando Brown signing, but The Ringer's Benjamin Solak is not a big fan of the move.

Solak does not view Brown as a top-20 tackle in the league and stated Lou Anarumo's game plans had no respect for the tackle over the past few matchups against Kansas City.

"Best tackle on the market is doing insane work for Orlando Brown," Solak told Sheil Kapadia, who hyped up the signing. "Because he's the best tackle on the market. Sure, I'll give you that, but I'm not even sure I agree with it, but I'll give you that. He's not a top 20 tackle."

Brown may not be in the top 10, but did he grade out as the 18th-best tackle by PFF last season and turned an early weakness (pass protection) into a strength down the stretch (88.7 pass-blocking grade after Week 10).

"Having watched all those defensive films in the Bengals against Kansas City," Solak said. "Lou Anarumo, the Bengals defensive coordinator, has no respect for Orlando Brown. Every time he goes one-on-one hunting. He puts one of his explosive rushers, either Trey Hendrickson or Joseph Ossai, which are not insanely talented names, against Orlando Brown and they always win. When Lou learned that the Bengals were signing Orlando Brown to a big contract. I think his head was spinning."

Check out the full 10-minute conversation below starting with Kapadia's praise for the move at the 14:43 mark.
