We made a list, checked it twice and applied it to teams of the NFC East. Believe it or not, the New York Giants weren’t all bad in 2024.
Naughty: QB Daniel Jones
The Giants released Jones in Week 11 after signing him to a four-year, $160M contract extension in 2023. In return, Jones gave them three wins, 10 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 16 starts. Jones asked for his release after being benched for Tommy DeVito in Week 12 and is currently a member of the Vikings’ practice squad.

Nice: Jones’ cap number
While the team is still on the hook for $22M of Jones’ contract next year, it’s much better than the $30M he was due next year or the $46M he’d receive in 2026. Assuming New York can find a quarterback in the next draft, they’ll be in a better position to surround him with veteran talent.
Naughty: WR Malik Nabers’ comments
The rookie wide receiver called the Giants “soft as f–” for their performance following a 30-7 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 12 while questioning his role in the team’s offensive game plan. Nabers had no targets in the first half of the game and finished the day with six catches for 64 yards.
“First, second quarter, I don’t get the ball,” Nabers said. “Start getting targets at the end. I mean, can’t do nothing. Start getting the ball when it’s 30-0. What do you want me to do?”
Nabers went on to say the change at quarterback had nothing to do with the team’s poor performance which had to anger his coaches, especially head coach Brian Daboll. The Giants lost six straight games prior to Nabers comments and every game since.
Nice: Rookies
While Nabers certainly expected to have more than four touchdowns by now, his 75.1 yard per game average is tied for 10th-most in the NFL and with 901 yards, he’s poised to be the team’s first 1,000-yard receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2018.
That’s impressive but so are the numbers of fifth-round rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. who assumed lead back duties from Devin Singletary in Week 5. A wide receiver for most of his college career, Tracy has 915 total yards this season and his 695 rushing yards are second-most of all rookie running backs.

Naughty: The Eagles game
Jones led the team in passing with 99 yards, Tracy led the team in rushing with 23 yards and Nabers led the team in receiving with 41 yards in a 28-3 loss to Philadelphia in Week 7, so far the team’s worst loss of the season.
Nice: The Seahawks game
Two weeks prior, Jones passed for 257 yards and two scores. Tracy ran for 129 yards and Darius Slayton led the team with a season-high 122 yards in a 29-20 victory over the Seahawks, New York's last win.
