It is officially NFL Mock Draft season as we inch closer to both the NFL Combine, which begins just a week from Thursday, and the NFL Draft in April.
Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling has released yet another mock draft, and New England Patriots fans will love seeing that he has their team selecting offensive tackle Will Campbell out of LSU.
At 6'6" and 325 pounds, Campbell has a massive frame, and he would immediately be inserted as the starting left tackle, becoming the left tackle of the future for New England.
With last year’s first-round pick, Drake Maye, showing promise and potential as a rookie, New England will certainly need to upgrade the offensive line in front of him, and that starts with Campbell.
He allowed just two sacks in his entire college career, including not allowing a single one in 2023. Having someone to keep your franchise quarterback from being hit and staying off the ground is utterly important, and that is exactly the kind of player Campbell is.
The NFL Combine will be an important event for Campbell, as he will be able to show off not only his natural strength but also his agility and mobility, which may come into play when pass blocking or blocking downfield.
With a good showing at the combine, New England would certainly feel good about taking Campbell at No. 4 overall and beginning to surround Maye with everything he needs to be successful.
