New Jets Safety a big hit Early on in Camp

Jets training camp is only a few days old, but free agent addition Andre Cisco is already making a name for himself.

The former Jacksonville Jaguar who we named as our top breakout candidate this season, Cisco is being mentioned quite a bit for his early impact plays.  Now we understand that this is only a few days of training camp, but based on what we’ve seen Cisco do in recent years, there’s plenty of reason for optimism.

Cisco picked up a pair of interceptions and broke up another pass in yesterday’s session with both picks coming in the 11-on-11 period.  This, for a player who has picked off eight passes over the past three seasons with the Jags after logging 13 interceptions in three college seasons.

Jets safeties have intercepted more than two passes just twice since 2016 as a revolving door at the position has been a problem for quite some time.

As we mentioned here  a few weeks ago, the Jets have some intriguing options on the back end but Cisco is the only one in the group who has shown he can make big plays at the pro level.

Now he has a head coach in Aaron Glenn who has done a fantastic job getting the most out of his safeties since entering the coaching ranks.  If Cisco hits his ceiling with the Jets, he gives the Jets the nice problem of finding a way to pay another quality young starter.
